17 hours over the course of three days, and this is what can happen. This is the final work of "Slumber of the Righteous.
I purposefully left the wings without contour lines to emphasize their radiance.
The darkness looks very rough because the darkness the angels protect the righteous from is very rough and ugly. I wanted to convey that effectively, and I think I did.
One of my favorite aspects is the size of the angels in contrast to the size of the sleeping man. Most of the accounts I've heard of people who have seen and interacted with angels have placed them anywhere between 10-15 feet tall. I love that.
There are some slight departures from a few features I drew in my concept drawings, particularly the jewels in the angel's gold belt(?) on the right. This piece is pretty busy as it is, and I didn't want to put anything in the piece that would add to that and then take away from the cohesiveness of the work.
Overall, I'm very pleased with it and I think it's not bad for my first try with Prismacolor markers. Let me know what you think!
